English Idioms related to Dreams - English Lesson via Skype
English Idioms related to Dreams - English Lesson via Skype Here you will learn useful English idioms related to dreams. You will also learn the meaning of DREAM ON English expression. Scroll down to watch a short video lesson. English Idioms about Dreams We all have dreams. Some come true and someWell, they just remain as dreams. Here are some English idioms related to dreams with an appropriate explanation.More often than not (on a regular basis) we dream at night while we are asleep but sometimes, time permitting, we might look out of the window or stare into space (focus on one thing) and daydream. English Idioms related to Dreams BEYOND YOUR WILDEST DREAMS This occurs when something you wished for actually comes true but in an even bigger or better way than you could have possibly imagined.Example: David was good at football infact very good. He hoped that one day he might in fact be a professional player. Out of the blue he got a letter inviting him for a trial with one of the biggest teams in the country it was more than he could wished for. It was beyond his wildest dreams.A DREAM COME TRUEAs indicated we all or most of us dream. Sometimes they become reality and when they do we will often be heard saying ah it is like a dream come true. Something that someone has required or attained after a long time.Example: Sara retired early from her work as a teacher as she wanted time to travel and see the world. Imagine her surprise when she logged on to the internet and saw an offer to travel around the world with a family and teach the children as they travelled. For her it was a dream come true. She would be ab le to travel and get paid at the same time. English Idioms related to Dreams WORKS LIKE A DREAMWhen something may be broken and in need of repair you are very surprised and delighted that it then works better than ever once the repair has been carried out.Example: Fiona was delighted when her favourite watch was repaired. Her boyfriend asked her how it was now that it had been repaired. Its perfect she replied. It works like a dream.Of course dreams may not always turn into reality and we can also use some English idioms related to dreams in a less than positive way:DREAM ON!We use this idiom when we might wish to bring someone back down to earth. Young people dream a lot and have very high expectations. So when they perhaps are dreaming a little too much we might tell them it is unlikely to happen and that they should dream on!.Example: Maryâs son had dreams of playing for Real Madrid, driving a Ferrari car and living in a mansion. Mary admired his ambition but it was all a bit of fantasy. When he spoke about it as he often did she would keep his feet on t he groundby saying but you donât play for a team now and you cannot speak Spanish! Dream on, its never going to happen. DREAM ON Meaning IN YOUR DREAMS! Similar to dream on we often use this phrase to burst someoneâs balloon. This usually happens when someone is really dreaming about something that is very unlikely to happen if in fact at all.Example: John dreamt* about winning the Lotto buying an expensive car retiring from work and living a life of luxury. His wife was a little more practicaland reminded him that the odds of winning the Lotto were something like 4 million to 1, almost impossible. In your dreams John, I am afraid only in your dreams!!* We can use either dreamed or dreamt in the Past Tense English Vocabulary List Out of the blue unexpectedlyTrial testTo carry out to doTo burst someoneâs balloon/bubble to spoil their dreamTo keep someones feet on the ground = to bring someone back down to earth to return someone to realityLife of luxury very wealthy life styleThe odds chancesPractical realistic English Idioms related to Dreams
8tracks The Moodiest Music Site on the Web
8tracks The Moodiest Music Site on the Web Photo from theletter.co.uk Welcome to 8tracks. The self-proclaimed [h]andcrafted internet radio site, named the Best Website of 2011 by Time Magazine, uses a tagging system for its user-created playlists. When you search for that summer + hipster mix, every playlist that has been tagged with those two words will come up. Each mix has at least 8 tracks to it, but can have many more than that, and will always have a wide variety of music on each. On 8tracks, users can listen to or create mixes. It is great for sharing mixes with your friends, but also with perfect strangers. If youve created a study mix that works well for you, post it to 8tracks and let it help someone else in their study-stress! Not in the mood? Search for an artist or genre and let 8tracks work its magic. Though 8tracks doesnt always offer the perfect selection of music, because, of course, we all have different tastes from one another, its fairly spot on most of the time. My only complaints would be that as a listener, you cannot skip more than 3 songs per mix in one hour before having to go to the next one and you cannot go back to a song after its played. Some of the mixtape art is a little risqué as well, so in a more professional setting, its hard to find mixes to listen to. Thankfully, there is a setting that you can put on called Safe Browse that will skip over tracks and playlists that are inappropriate. Other great features include the Youtube and iTunes buttons on the bottom of each mix. If youve found a new song that you really like, you can find where to buy it or listen to it again on using these links. Want to take 8tracks on the go? There are free Android and iPhone apps available, which have both had recent updates with great reviews. For those of you who are looking for more out of this site (mostly just DJs) there is 8tracks plus. This upgraded version of the site includes an ad-free site and several DJ-focused features that are to be released soon. The cost is $25 for a 6-month subscription and 14-free trial. I wouldnt say its worth it, because unlike Pandora, the ads are simply non-audio sidebars, so for a regular listener, the upgraded version does not offer much. Simply listen away with the free version! What moods do you use 8tracks for?
Edukwest Talking with Kirsten Winkler about italki
Edukwest Talking with Kirsten Winkler about italki If you dont know who Kirsten Winkler is, you really should. She is a professional language teacher who has become an expert in the field of online language education. Between her blog and her E-Teachers Academy and conferences, I think there are few people who understand the evolving space of online language education as well as she does. You could say Kirsten is the equivalent of techcrunch for online language learning. One of her main projects is called Edukwest, and she has been interviewing a lot of inspiring people in the online language learning space. She asked to interview us at italki, and we gladly took the opportunity. Heres the direct page to the interview http://www.edukwest.com/kevin-chen-of-italki-com/ And heres that interview embedded (youll need a proxy to view it if youre in China): We covered a lot of topics in the interview, and one thing we hope that is clear is that it is an exciting time to be a startup in this area. The technology and the market is evolving very quickly, and were only just seeing the start of these new and potentially world-changing ideas. I believe everyone shares this core belief that technology can play a critical role in improving the old way of language learning. The impressive thing about Kirsten is that she has actually met and interviewed a lot of these people! Financially struggling Universities to be bailed out - Tutor Hunt Blog
Financially struggling Universities to be bailed out Financially struggling Universities to be bailed out, says labour Financially struggling Universities to be bailed out, says labourUniversitiesWe have all heard the slogan `Too big to fail` - the assertion that certain institutions, primarily financial ones, are so interconnected and vital to the economy that they must be protected from market forces. Whereas a failing business would go bust, a failing bank will be bailed out. Should universities also fall under this category? Are they, along with banks, not so important to our society that they should be rescued with tax payers money if they are facing closure. Or if they are facing financial hardship should they be left to fall? Under new plans unveiled by Labour it seems that struggling universities could be rescued from going bankrupt, protected from `rampant` market forces. The Office for Students (Ofs) currently has the powers to regulate universities, and is able to offer financial aid - but there are limits to how much fiscal support it will be able to provide. The very idea of a university going bust will be surprising to some, with people being of the opinion that only businesses can go bankrupt, and that universities don`t seem to be structured along such lines as a corporation or commercial outlet. The fact is that, since the higher education sector is effectively a competitive marketplace, universities can certainly fail financially. They have huge overheads: having to cover the salaries of scores, perhaps even hundreds of teachers, lecturers, and other staff members. They will also have maintenance charges, costs for equipment, and may also have to pay rental charges for the buildings and land they use. If these financial obligations are not met, they will go under. Universities are of course in competition with each other - all vying for a customer base that generally only make a single purchase. The marketplace isn`t one where, if you lose the shopper to another company one day, you can entice them with your wares the next: for most students selecting a University is a once in a lifetime decision. Though it is rare for universities to go bankrupt, it is certainly not unheard of, and there are reports that 3 major Universities are on the brink of bankruptcy at this very moment. Chris Skidmore, the Universities minister, has recently stated that `providers may, in a small number of cases, exit the market altogether as a result of strong competition`. We certainly seem to have entered a more uncertain time for universities - the financial stability they enjoyed in the past seems to have gone, a point made by the director of the Higher Education Policy Institute think tank Nick Hillman, who was former adviser to the universities minister Lord Willetts: `A university going bust is more likely than at any other point in the last generation,` There are however some who oppose the protective measures - the shadow education minister Angela Rayner has recently pointed out how the OfS, an institution that one might expect to be steadfast in proposing pecuniary aid to struggling universities, has said it would `not bail out providers in financial difficulty`. Being an opposing party politician, it may come as no surprise that Mrs Rayner went on to critique the conservative party for the current state of higher education in the UK: `The Tories have unleashed a failed free market experiment in higher education. They have created a system that goes to the very heart of their ideology - a system where market logic is imposed on public goods and where the forces of competition run rampant at the expense of students, staff and communities. `Students would be left with immense uncertainty about their futures and entire communities would lose one of their major academic, economic and social institutions. Education is a public good and should be treated as such. Our universities are there for all of us.` There is a general feeling that there`s soon to be a serious review of the state of student finances, and that the financier Philip Augar is going to advocate a cut in tuition fees. An initial annual figure of around 6500 was tentatively proposed, with this rising to 7500 after many universities complained. One thing is certain - if there are reductions ahead, this will mean a significant drop in income for many universities. While many students will celebrate more affordable fees, the long term results may mean many smaller universities will struggle to remain solvent. 12 months ago0Add a Comment
What is Amide Chemistry?
What is Amide Chemistry?Amide chemistry is an amazing technique used by those who are working in the pharmaceutical industry. These people are using it to help make things more effective. This chemistry is used in large numbers of pharmaceutical companies and it is being used in order to determine the effectiveness of various medicines that have been made. The results produced by this chemistry are amazing as it helps in increasing the potency of the medicines that are being used. These medicines can be used in medicines like aspirin, anti-biotics and other antibiotics. It also helps in reducing the side effects that the medicine may cause. The amide chemistry helps in giving the medicines the ability to give good results in the production of antibiotics. Amide chemistry is considered as one of the most important discoveries in the field of medicine and this science helps in increasing the potency of medicines. This can also be used in the production of prescription medications. In orde r to be able to produce the powerful medical formula, it is necessary for the chemicals to be transformed into neutral molecules. With the help of amide chemistry the medicines can now be transformed into neutral molecules. These neutral molecules are known as DMSO, which has many benefits. The amide chemistry is useful in helping in making up the medical formulas of medicines. These formulas are prepared by blending up the different compounds that help in producing effective medicines. Many more pharmaceutical companies are using this chemistry to help with producing the best pharmaceutical products.Amide chemistry is also known as a dynamic chemical reaction which is a combination of chlorine and nitrate. The chlorine in this formula helps in giving the medicines the ability to help in giving them the properties that are required for producing the medicines. This chemistry also helps in producing the medicines in the form that is known to be more effective.Amide chemistry is used i n many countries, which is the result of which the medicines are used more effectively. It is used in many hospitals where the medicines are produced in the form of a mixture of the neutral and active elements that are used. This formula is also used in the production of tablets, where the tablets are made up from the crystals of the active pharmaceutical compounds.

Dissolution Definition in Chemistry
Dissolution Definition in ChemistryA dissolution definition in chemistry is an equation, that when applied, will give the function of the dissolution. There are two processes involved in a dissolution. The first process is the chemical dissociation, where a substance undergoes the process where the molecule is separated from the body. For example, when you melt down gasoline, it will leave a residue on the ground, after the chemical reaction. The second process is crystallization or chemical refraction, where the substance is pulled up and forms a crystal. In the process of chemical refraction, the body of the substance will not be physically broken up but only refracted into a fluid form. In the case of petroleum, the water molecule is pulled up and precipitates into a crystalline form, making the substance almost liquid at room temperature. However, in both of these processes, some of the chemical laws of the molecules remain. For example, if a molecule is pulled up, and then breaks in a liquid form, and the chemical laws remain, the molecule is bound to a solid rock, and this will leave a residue. Thus, what is left is a residue of the dissolved water molecule, which is bound in a solid rock. The other common example of this chemical is what happens in the weather when a water molecule is evaporated, leaving a solid layer in the air. In this case, however, the chemical laws do not apply, since there is no physical process occurring. It is important for a chemist to understand all the chemical equations involved in this process. A number of the chemical equations have direct applications to physical chemistry, and these are used by physicists. Understanding these equations can make a big difference to a student who is taking chemistry.Dissolution in chemistry will require the combination of chemistry equations with physics to form a very useful chemical formula. This is because even if the physical chemist is right, he or she may be wrong about the dissolution pr ocess. These equations will involve such things as molecular weight, molecular structure, equilibrium constant, surface tension, molecular diffusion, work, electric charge, water content, charge in crystals, etc. If a chemist can understand these equations, then he or she can use them to form a good, useful chemical formula for dissolving a substance in water.
